Tobar na Màthar (Gaelic for Motherwell) has been recently constructed to modern building standards with central heating and 100mm insulation. It is a self-contained annex to the rear of a renovated croft house, so is sheltered from the prevailing winds.
The accommodation is ideally suited for couples or solo travellers, having one large bedroom, hallway/library, large open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area, utility room and bathroom, as shown in the floorplan.

Lounge/Dining Area
The lounge/dining area is a large open plan area, with a picture window to the outside rear patio. A dining table and four chairs can similarly be folded away when not in use if required. The modern 42” plasma TV has Freeview tv and radio channels, and there is a multi region dvd player with extensive movie and music DVDs for both adults and children. There is also a good selection of Scottish movies and local interest DVDs available on request. The lounge/dining area has wireless internet for your smartphone or laptop/netbook, and a printer is available on request. You can display your holiday photos/videos on the TV via a USB port, or on Xd or SD cards (adaptors available on request). A welcome book of information and instructions is provided.

Kitchen
The kitchen area is open plan with the lounge/dining room as shown in the floorplan. The modern kitchen units have led lighting in the kickplates for subdued lighting in the evenings if required. Cooking is via the electric cooker/oven, and there is an inverter microwave oven (in the adjacent utility room). The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, etc, as well as electric kettle, toaster and dishwasher.

Bedroom
The carpeted large bedroom has twin beds (which could be moved together if required), and plenty of storage, either in the large chest of drawers or in the built in wardrobes. A new panoramic window looks to the sea, and in the summer months often affords spectacular sunsets. Two large windows look to the rear patio, and the wifi router is fitted in the wardrobes, so wifi access is available in the bedroom. There’s a bedside table/lamp, tv and dvd player, and the main room lights can also be switched on/off from the bedside. There is spare bedding in the wardrobes if required. There is a hairdryer beside the large mirror/dressing table to save you bringing your own.

Hallway
The main door leads directly into the hallway, with coathooks and umbrella stands to deposit your outdoor wear. The hallway also contains a large bookcase with an extensive library of old and contemporary Scottish books and maps, including a large variety of material concerning the Isle of Lewis and the other Western Isles – all of which is available on request on free loan during your stay.

Utility
The utility room has a fully automatic washing machine (washing liquid provided). Drying can be done outside if the weather is dry, or there is usually free use of a tumbler dryer in the main house if required. Hoover, iron & ironing board are stored here. Also in the utility room is the microwave cooker and a fridge/freezer, and further storage space.
Shower Room
The shower room has a modern two piece shower (ie both fixed and handheld), in a large corner shower cabinet. There is constant hot water in the shower room (and kitchen) supplied by the modern oil-fired heating system. A large heated towel rail is useful for warming towels etc. There is an extractor fan, and an opening opaque window. A wall unit contains ample supplies of soap, toilet paper, etc for your use.
